Rotmilan type M3D+ Sharp Kriegsmesser

After two years of the debut of the Rotmilan Blunt Kriegsmesser, you can now get your hands on the sharp version as well!

The design is primarily based on 'The martyrdom of St. Sebastian' by Master ES from 1467, while taking some elements from the late 15th century Wolfegg Hausbuch's Bergwerkspanorama page.

The slightly curved, completely hand-ground 940mm long blade starts at 8mm thickness with a pronounced nonlinear distal taper, echoing several surviving originals. The pair of fullers on each side aid in lowering the overall weight while allowing for a lightweight, yet stiff blade.

The blade's shoulders slightly protrude beyond the wide cross and are staked to minimize the chance of loosening. The Nagel passes through both the blade and the cross and is peened on the other side as on originals. The pommel is also hand-ground and the tang passing through it is peened hot.

The grip is made of wood and is affixed by hollow rivets and glued to the heavily fullered, full-width tang. A fuller runs in the middle on both sides, extending into both the pommel and the cross.

The products aim to have the aesthetics of historical pieces, not the finish of mass-produced items. Each product bears the signs of its making; small tool marks and imperfections, which do not affect the build quality or usability but give each of our pieces its unique character.

 

The weapon is a practice Kriegsmesser for technical drills and test cutting, perfect for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and reenactment.
