Blunt longsword simulators appear in the first half of the 15th century, and their successors are still used today for martial arts and sports. This model is the result of our efforts to design something nice for people with more modern needs.
The design is not based on any single illustration or original, it is the result of continuous iterative rethinking-redesigning. To underline this, it is the only training tool with a cord-wrapped grip in our selection.
The 1000mm/39.7" long fullered blade is ground free-handed from 51crv4/6150 steel, heat-treated to 50-52 HrC. It has a good amount of flexibility, making it safe for thrusts and the close PoB helps with lessening it's striking power.
The 255mm/10" long (without pommel) grip has a wooden core, bound in cord. To make sure it won't unravel any time soon, we used paracord shell for the cord, and glued it to the grip on it's entire length.
Following feedback from our friends at HVN on the prototype, we are designating this model LITE, most suitable for partner drills and relatively low intensity sparring. We are working on a heavier version too, to be introduced later on.
