Three pieces of the practice seax is now available for purchase!
The design is inspired by an original piece and has been modified just a bit to meet the specs provided by the original customer.
The relatively wide and short blade has the characteristics of a big, well balanced knife and the construction of these pieces is also very similar to that.
The grip is bound in leather with a rather minimalistic decoration provided by the risers underneath, which also gives a better and more firm grip to the seax.
The oval grip helps with blade alignment and fits the hand very comfortably, while the brass bolster gives the piece just a hint of extra style.
To keep the authentic feel and affordable price, we allow some slight variation when it comes to the hilt accessories - it means that no two weapons are the same. They will differ and show hammer marks, as the antique weapons do. Additionally, in our designs we use organic materials which may vary in texture and hue.
We follow the philosophy of design from the past- hardly any weapons were made pristine. They bore signs of swordmaker's tools, hours of filing and hard work which makes for a unique signature of the maker, and their relationship with the weapon they forge. It means that our pieces are unique, and no two weapons are the same.
The weapon is a practice dagger for solo practice and technical drills, perfect for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and reenactment.
